Bodhi Tree Story Time 🌈

Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, we will upload a new story with new lesson plan ideas to carry on developing your child’s learning while at home.

Lesson plan 6
Activities of Everyday Living

Today is all about promoting independence skills by learning how to put a T-shirt on, how to close a button or how to wear a pair of shoes.

Montessori speaks about the need for repetition and a wish to be independent. Children learn by doing and by repeating. Take this time to slow down and give your child time to choose their clothes, try to fit them on, check if they look all right in the mirror.

By placing a basket with a pair of socks in your playroom your child will try and attempt to wear them.

If you have a big teddy bear (or doll) take a few items and dress the bear together. Let your child try to close a large button or zip a coat up and down.

Make a funny game and try to wear as many clothes as you can, layering them up, from vests to t-shirts, from jumpers to jackets, tights, leggings and trousers.

Let us know what you came up with and see you all on Wednesday!
