Lesson Plan 11
Sensory bottles
We all love We’re Going on a Bear Hunt book and there are lots of ideas online for games and activities to create after listening to this story.
Today let’s make sensory bottles, these can be used by all age groups in different ways.
Look for 6 transparent containers, they can be empty water bottles, spice containers, jars etc.
In each container create an environment with materials found in the garden as well as around your home.
A few ideas:
Grass – green pipe cleaners
River – water with blue food colouring
Mud – mix choco powder with some water
Forest – a few small pine needles
Snowstorm – cotton wool
Cave – black pom-poms
While creating the sensory bottles speak about the different environment the family is finding along the way. Use adjectives to describe them, building vocabulary.
Once the containers are ready to play you can read or listen to the story again and play a guess what comes next game. You can make an obstacle course and use the bottles to mark the change in the environment.
Share your creations #bodhitreestorytime and enjoy a lovely weekend! Also do let me know if you find a bear 🐻!
