Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, we will upload a new story with new lesson plan ideas to carry on developing your child’s learning while at home.
Lesson plan 8
Sensorial curriculum
Today I would like to invite you to create a hide and seek bag to promote your child’s stereognostic sense.
The stereognostic sense is your ability to identify an object without looking at it, smelling it, tasting it or hearing it’s sounds.
In a bag (or under a scarf) place one, two or more objects, depending by your child’s age, and just by touching play a guessing game.
Examples:
For a one year old place only one familiar object; it can be their favourite soft toy, a ball, a car etc. Ask your child to reach inside the bag and ask them “what is it?”. You might want to play the game yourself first as children learn by imitating actions seen.
For a two years old place a couple of familiar objects and if they guess correctly place more items in the bag. Soft toys and familiar animals work great for this age group.
For older children place five objects; all animals or different shapes of blocks. You can play sorting games: make a pile of cars, one of balls; see how many you have collected.
Have fun with the game, try different variations and have a lovely Easter weekend! 🐣
